shaky text fields: using real world metaphors can be fun!


There’s been a lot of talk for some time about how to introduce gaming elements into the web user experience, because fun is a great motivator and motivation encourages us to change our behaviour (which is the HARDEST thing to do).

Signing up for SlideShare today, I noticed these shaky fields that mimicked “a head shaking sideways” to say no, there is a mistake here. This shaking supplements the red error message to let you know that there is a problem with the field.

The last time I saw this was in Mac OS X’s login field when an incorrect login ID or password was entered.

Very cool to see that it can be done on the web now..(:
